Virgil Duane Pavlawk, Fairgrove, Once you have worked the land, been a partner with its moods, secrets and seasons, you cannot leave. The living land remembers, touching you in unguarded moments, saying, “I am here, you are a part of me.” Virgil Duane Pavlawk, 77, of Fairgrove, died, Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born on August 4, 1937 in Munger, son of the late Orville and Maybelle (Neal) Pavlawk. Virgil married the former Cleo Barbara (Tootie Ann) Mathey on December 7, 1957 at St. James Lutheran Church in Munger by Pastor Kenneth Rutledge who also baptized and confirmed Virgil into the Lutheran faith. He served in the National Guards from January 1955 thru January 1958. Virgil farmed his entire life starting at the age of 7, helping his grandfather Joseph Pavlawk until Virgil’s health prevented him from continuing to do what he loved. Along with his lifetime commitment to farming, he also was employed with General Motors and retired from there. He had enjoyed deer hunting, trout fishing and spending time at his place in Grayling, especially Thanksgiving weekend with the entire family; he was a NASCAR fan and his true enjoyment in life was having his four daughters around him. Surviving in addition to his wife Tootie Ann of 57 years are his four daughters, Kellie Ann Pavlawk of Gladwin, Kim Lanette Morton of Fairgrove, Pennie Danette Schoenow (Rick Gawne) and Gaylyn Marie (Robert) Krieger all of Vassar; four grandchildren, Lani Morton (Keith Krummen) of Freeland, Matthew (Cindy) Schoenow of Fairgrove, Luke Krieger and Lisa Krieger of Vassar; three great grandchildren, Caitlin, Brenndon and Annalise Schoenow of Fairgrove; a special friend that he loved like a son, Jerry (Cyndee) Schoenow; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan Mathey of Missouri, Jerry (Joyce) Murphy of Mancelona, Carlyn (Larry) Brinkman of Bay City and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, one brother Dennis Pavlawk and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stephen and Evelyn Murphy all preceded him in death. Funeral services for Virgil will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 from Trinity St. James Lutheran Church in Munger with Pastor Michael G.
