Albert Richard “Dick” Hutchinson of Caro, age 79, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his daughter’s home in Caro. Dick was born July 25, 1934 in Ellington Township, the son of the late Harvey Lee and Mildred Maxine (Jacob) Hutchinson, and was a Caro High School graduate. During his 11th and 12th years of school, he was a member of the Naval Reserve. After high school, Dick joined the active Army and served from 1954 through 1959 followed by time in the Army Reserve/National Guard. Dick was a member of the American Legion in Lansing and the VFW in Roscommon. Dick was united in marriage with the former Ruth Ann Washburn in 1954 and together they had nine children. For over 40 years, Dick was a general contractor and builder in Florida, Tennessee and Crawford County, Michigan. Surviving Dick are his children, Penny S. Lusher of Tennessee, Pamela S. King of Michigan, John R. Hutchinson of Tennessee, Lori Kay & Rod Strye of Caro, Jeffery S. Hutchinson of Tennessee, Peggy S. Gilliam and her companion, William Jackson of Missouri, Ann M. Anderson of Oklahoma; two sisters, one brother and their spouses, Francis & Paul Keoltzow of Texas, Onalee & Don Schadd of Michigan, John & Kathy Hutchinson of Arizona; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by two children, Roby Lee Hutchinson and Ruth Ann Hutchinson; two grandsons, Brian Alan and Triston Scott; one great-grandson, Christopher Leon Collins, Jr.; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Hutchinson and John Royce Hutchinson. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ronald Comfort officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Caro V.F.W. and the U.S. Army will follow at the Ellington Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice.
