CARO — The person of interest who was apprehended about 30 minutes after a Caro business was robbed Tuesday has been arraigned.
Devin Harris, 18, of Caro is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
The charges stem from the armed robbery about 11:30 a.m., at Ziel’s Wine Shop (formerly Caro Wine Shop), at 895 S. State Street (M-81), Caro.
According to the preliminary police report, Tuscola County Central Dispatch was contacted about the robbery attempt by a customer who was in the store at the time of the alleged incident.
The suspect brandished a knife and was chased out of the store by the clerk, said Tuscola County Dispatch Director Sandra Nielsen about the call dispatch received.
While the officers from the Caro City Police Department gathered information at the scene, the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police from the Caro Post searched for the suspect who was picked up at the McAlpine Apartments off of Turner Drive, Caro.
The description of the suspect and his vehicle, and the license plate number lead law enforcement officials to the apartments in the northern part of the city.
Harris was turned over to the Caro City Police because the incident happened within their jurisdiction.
Harris’ bond was sent at $3,000, 10 percent on the first two charges, and personal recognizance was allowed for the operating while license suspended charge, said Tuscola County Undersheriff Glen Skrent.
