ANN M. RANSFORD Caro
Ann M. Ransford, age 71, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Covenant Health Care–Cooper in Saginaw. Ann was born June 11, 1943 in Highland Park, the daughter of the late Maurice C. and Margaret (Robins) Ransford and grew up in Caro where she graduated high school with the Class of 1961. She would later graduate from Central Michigan University with a teaching degree in English Literature. Shortly thereafter, she was hired by the University of Michigan Law School in their placement office for several years before being appointed by President Nixon’s administration as an assistant to the Director of the General Services Administration in Washington, D.C. She served in that position through the Nixon and Ford Administrations. After that time, she joined a newly formed real estate office in Alexandria, Virginia and began her new career as a real estate agent. Ann returned to Michigan to live in 1999, first in Traverse City for several years as a real estate agent and then spent her retirement in Caro for the last fifteen years. She enjoyed her time in Washington with all the history, plays, museums and energy that our national government provided. In Michigan, she was an active member of the Northern Michigan Area Special Olympics Committee. In Caro, it was her time to read and renew old friendships while also making new ones. She always enjoyed the holidays that brought all of her family together. Ann is survived by two brothers and their spouses, Paul and Eileen Ransford of Harbor Springs, Dick and Sue Ransford of Caro; her sister-in-law, Ann Ransford of Caro; five nieces and nephews, Charles, Sarah, John, Kate and Mark; eleven grand-nieces and grand-nephews; many cousins and special friends. Ann is also survived by her loving companion, her dog, Daisy. In keeping with Ann’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Caro First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Meyers officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola Special Olympics, c/o 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
