BONNIE ENGLISH REENE Caro
Bonnie English Reene of Caro, age 80, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at United Hospice Residence in Marlette, following a courageous battle with cancer. Bonnie was born February 14, 1935 in Elizabethtown, Illinois, the daughter of the late Earl and Lolene (Hale) Bailey. She attended Pontiac High School and graduated from Cave-In-Rock High School in Illinois with the Class of 1951. Bonnie was united in marriage with Donald L. Reene on October 3, 1959 in Pontiac, and he survives her. She began her working career in 1951 with Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Pontiac as a supervisor in the business office for thirteen years. Bonnie took several years to raise her son before becoming a pharmacist technician for Perry Drugs for twelve years, retiring in 1989. She moved to Gaylord in 1990, and came to the Caro area in 2004, where she had long-standing ties. Bonnie was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church and its Methodist Women, and sang in several church choirs through the years. She was also a volunteer for the Octagon Barn, and was a member of the Otsego County and Cass City Historical Societies. Bonnie’s family was extremely important to her, and she loved spending time with her grandson. She also enjoyed walking, snowmobiling, spending time at the family cabin, tending to her flower garden, listening to music, and watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Donald Reene of Caro; one son, Mark Reene and his wife, Kathy, of Vassar; one grandson, Grant Reene of Vassar; one sister, Wynona Turner and her husband, Steven, of Harrisburg, Illinois; close cousins, John and Ramona Douglas of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and girlfriends she considered sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Burial will be at Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City at a later date. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro United Methodist Church or the Cave-In-Rock Class of 1951 Endowed Scholarship Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
