Barbara C. Katzinger, of Unionville, age 75, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015, at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. She died after a lengthy illness from a courageous battle of Alzheimer’s. Barb was born March 1, 1939, in Owosso, the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Jantos) Gremel. She graduated from Sebewaing High School, the Class of 1957. She also graduated from Delta College in 1984 with a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate. She married Robert “Bob” Katzinger on June 14, 1958, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh. Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage. Besides being a wonderful homemaker, loving wife and mother, she still worked at many various jobs. She worked at Normandy Dress Shop, Meta Reithel Catering, Bay Shore Nursing Home in Bay City and the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Barb is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. While a member there, she volunteered her time in various church and school organizations. Her hobbies were cooking and baking for her family, flower gardening and sewing. Barb is survived by her husband, Bob; children: Wendy (Gene) Harrington of Akron, Kathy (Randy) Wiese of Reese, and Matt Katzinger of Unionville; grandchildren: Andrew and Luke Harrington, Adam and Brad Wiese, Karen (Ben) Bekemeier, and Maggie Katzinger; great-grandson: Abel Bekemeier; brother: Kenneth “Duffy” (Arlene) Gremel; sisters-in-law: Margaret Gremel, Charline Gremel, Frances Bodeis, Carol (Jeff) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Gerald Gremel, Ralph Gremel and baby John Gremel. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 29, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Visitation will begin at the church at 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Demorest Cemetery in Akron Twp.
