SEBEWAING — A fire Tuesday afternoon destroyed a family-owned business in the village of Sebewaing.
At about 3:30 p.m., a fire was reported at Kuhl Construction at 117 Mason Street just off of Center Street in the village. Huron County departments from Sebewaing, Owendale, Fairhaven, Winsnor Township, Oliver Township assisted at the fire as well as the Akron, Fairgrove and Elmwood Township from Tuscola County.
Although the scene was cleared about 11:30 a.m. that night, there was a rekindle this morning.
When the fire was active residents in nearby homes and apartments were evacuated, but the fire was contained to just the business.
Kuhl Construction does welding work as well as installing and fabricating grain handling equipment.
