RUPPERT, Wallace Johnson age 97 of Akron died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Funeral service will be on Friday, February 6 at 11:00 am at Fairgrove United Methodist Church. Pastor Rich Lawther will officiate with cremation to follow. A private burial will be held in the spring. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove on Thursday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Friday Wallace will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Wallace was born August 11, 1917, in Akron, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin and Amy (Johnson) Ruppert. He is a graduate of Fairgrove High School and worked his entire life as a farmer in the Akron area. Wallace and Thelma Sylvester were united in marriage on November 11, 1939. She preceded him in death in 1999. He would later marry Joy McCreedy on January 22, 2000, and she also preceded him in death. Wallace was a life time member of Fairgrove Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Marilyn and husband, Jack Boone, Judith and husband, Romey Karpovich, Ralph and wife, Sue Ruppert, Betty and husband, Gary Maxwell, Donald and wife, Bonnie Ruppert; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; 5 step children, 13 step grandchildren, 33 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma; second wife, Joy; son, James; Sister, Thelma Keyes; brothers, Leonard, & Malcolm.
