Marlene F. Dinsmore of Cass City, age 63, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Tendercare of Cass City. She was born January 19, 1952 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Gale and Christina (Garcia) Dinsmore. Early on, Marlene developed a love of animals. She brought home a number of pets that she wasn’t supposed to have, but snuck them into the house anyway. Her father, upon finding a hamster sitting outside her bedroom door, resignedly brought in into her room and calmly asked, “Where does this belong?” She brought home a rabbit at Easter and tried to make her parents believe “someone” left it on the porch as a gift. There were quite a few cats and dogs even though she was allergic to cats. One time, Marlene’s father forgot his wallet at the family cottage, forty-five minutes from home, where Marlene had a kitten she was trying to figure out how to be able to keep. She was able to keep it after making a deal with her dad…she would bring him his wallet as long as she could bring the kitten too. That was only the beginning. Marlene loved horses and took riding lessons, eventually buying her first horse, Sheba, a palomino. She owned a few horses over the years, and loved them. Marlene loved dogs, and had a lot of dogs over the years. She loved them all and would have continued to have more had she been able to. Marlene worked quite a few years within the medical field as a medical transcriptionist. When Marlene found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it changed her life. She was baptized and confirmed in 1990. Marlene had a lot of friends, including some very special ones.
Marlene is survived by one sister, Donna Toner; nephews, Joel Toner and Barry (Bridgette) Rohder; nieces, Andrea Remick and Lesley (Paul) Rotole; a grand-niece and two grand-nephews; cousins and many, many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Liles and Nancy Rohder.
