Paul W. Hawken, 54, of Vassar, who was a loving, caring and great provider to his wife and children, died, Thursday morning, February 5, 2015, at his home. He was born on May 13, 1960 in Saginaw, son of the late Robert and Cleo (Wilkinson) Hawken. Paul attended Reese schools, graduating from Reese High School in 1978. While at Reese High, Paul was a member of the FFA Chapter and the “Buzzin Dozen”. He married the former Tonya Kamen, formerly of Deckerville on August 3, 2001 in Estes Park, Colorado. Paul was a lifelong farmer. He truly loved what he was taught and enjoyed every minute nurturing the farm land he worked. He was member of Christ Lutheran Church in Reese, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends at the Hawken’s family Cabin on Rifle Lake. Surviving in addition to his wife Tonya of 13 years, are his two daughters, Allison and Macey; brother, Scott (Shari) Hawken of Fairgrove; nephews, Brady and Brent; niece, Lindsay Beyerlein; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Linda Kamen of Deckerville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dana and Jeremy Duff of Applegate; niece and nephew, Abbi and Brenden; special uncle, Wayne Wilkinson; aunt, Jean Felske; cousins and many friends. In addition to his parents, one brother Mark Hawken preceded him in death. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church in Reese with Rev. Tom Senge officiating. Paul’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
