John “Jack” Hudson was born on February 19, 1934 and passed away on February 3, 2015. He grew up in Caro, Michigan, where he met and married Carole (Brigham). He served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from Michigan State University. He became a teacher and was a guidance counselor at Lansing Eastern High School for more than 35 years. John was a lifelong learner, always aspiring to gain understanding. His passion for learning seemed to be surpassed only by his interest in helping others. The depth of his caring made him an exceptional counselor and friend, but also a loving husband, devoted father and cherished grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. One of his last wishes was for the right to choose a death with dignity on one’s own terms to become a reality for those who follow him. John was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Crane. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carole; four daughters, Jill (Gordon) Reynolds, Jan (John) Peralta, Julie (David) Kenyon and Shari (Ken) Dudley; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to the Death with Dignity National Center, the Humane Society, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated. www.EstesLeadley.com
