Edwin V. Rayl, 90, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in Hills and Dales General Hospital following a short illness. He was born August 19, 1923 at home in Caro to Earl and Harriet (Childs) Rayl. He married Marion Jean Horst December 24, 1943 in Akron. She died October 11, 2006. Edwin was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was a longtime member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association. Edwin enjoyed working with draft horses. He was a charter member of Deford Community Church. Edwin is survived by his children: Renae (Richard) Taylor of Kingston, Carol (Clifton) Collins of Kingston, John (Laurie) Rayl of Silverwood; grandchildren: Patrick (Rhonda) Taylor, Kimberly (Brian) Luptowski, Cheryl (Hank) Belfield, Cindy (Jamie) Clapsaddle, Crystal (Eric) Hayes, Candy Collins, Chanse Collins, Daniel (Cheryl) Rayl, Jeremy (Bobbi) Rayl, Sarah Rayl; great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Zachary, Lily, Amelia, Hannah, Joshua, Michael, Chelsey, Kyleigh, Collin, Caitlyn, Carley, Jacob, James, Nicholas, Brianna, Lydia; brothers: Harold (Helen) Rayl of Cass City, Elmer (Donna) Rayl of Akron, Walter (Delia) Rayl of Snover, Linel (Janet) Rayl of St. Helen, Archie (Sandy) Rayl of Grand Rapids; sister, Marilyn (Duane) Rich of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Mattie Rayl of Caro; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Arnold Rayl, Earl (Verneta) Rayl Jr. and sister, Carolyn Wiegersma; brothers-in-law: Douglas Stewart, Edward Wiegersma. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Deford Community Church with Pastor David Cooper officiating. Interment will take place in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Rayl: Patrick Taylor, Brian Luptowski, Hank Belfield, Jamie Clapsaddle, Eric Hayes, Chanse Collins, Daniel Rayl, Jeremy Rayl.
