Maxine Helen (Strieter) Moore, passed away on her 86th birthday at Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville, MI on February 16, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. She had a full and wonderful life, enjoying the adventures that life had to offer. She was a life-long active member of the Unionville Moravian Church, singing in the choir, directing the junior choir, playing trombone in the band and attending the Moravian Music Festivals. Maxine had been a member of the Women’s Circles, quilt group and did many other odd tasks that she thought needed to be done. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 421 and had worked for the Michigan Sugar Factory in Sebewaing as a scale house operator for many years. She also drove a school bus for the Unionville School system. Maxine enjoyed genealogy and Unionville History and couldn’t wait to find every short-tail relation that was possible. She loved music, especially brass bands, chorals, hymns, Moravian music, Gilbert & Sullivan Operettas and anything from the 40′s. Bird watching and card playing were also enjoyed and she had a sense of humor, wit, and laugh that could fill a room. She loved to travel with her partner and husband of 65 years, Glen Moore. They traveled to every state in the United States, many Canadian provinces as well as to all of the Central American countries except Costa Rica and many islands of the Caribbean. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Lea Moore, who also died on her birthday; her parents, Herbert & Leona (Harmon) Strieter; brothers: Donald, Roy, Robert, Herbert “Toby”; sisters: Ruth, Betty, Phyllis. Surviving to remember her are her siblings, Harmon (Buster), of Coco Beach, FL, Edith LeValley and Lois Irion from Unionville; her husband, Glen A. Moore, of Unionville; son Buddy & Renee Moore of Pinconning, MI; son Thomas & Tess Moore of Bozeman, MT and daughter Adena Moore and her partner Susan Sutphin of Mount Airy, NC; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many extended and unofficially adopted family members. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Unionville Moravian Church at 2pm. Memorial donations may be given to the Unionville Moravian Church. Arrangements handled with loving care by Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Share a memory at www.jmfuneralhome. com
