Mary E. Owen, age 79, lifelong Kingston resident, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living Facility in Caro, Michigan. She was born January 30, 1936 in Marlette, daughter to the late Simon and Gladys (McAllister) Chappel. She married Duane Owen March 27, 1954 in Marlette. Mrs. Owen enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, baking and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband Duane of 60 years of marriage; Portia Nichol (daughter) of Kingston, Della and Rich Wisniowicz (daughter) of Kingston,Penny and Ron Mock (daughter) of Mayville, Albert and Nancy Chappel (brother) of Las Vegas, NV., Bill and Marilyn Chappel (brother) of Elkton, Bob and Grace Chappel (brother) of Marlette, Larry and Cheryl Chappel (special nephew) of Port Huron, Heather, Heidi, Jodie, Amanda (grandchildren), Adam, Trenton, Tyler, Zachary (great-grandchildren), Aubrey, Paige, Brayden, Logan (great-great-grandchildren). She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Gladys Chappe;, granddaughter, Sarah Mock; brothers, Haven, Garth, Larry, Francis, Don and Dick Chappel; sisters, Ruby Grow, Agnes Moyer and Ruth Fishell; son-in-law, Dave Nichol. Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Pastor Christopher Laughlin from the Hope Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will follow the memorial service at May Memorial Crematory in Port Huron. Memorials may be donated to Kingston Fire and Rescue Service, 3655 Ross St., Kingston, MI 48741 or American Cancer Society. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28th from 11a.m. to 2p.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.
