DENMARK TOWNSHIP — The Denmark Township Board of Trustees unanimously voted to move forward with the 2015 Volunteer Assessment Water District.
The board received a petition with 45 signatures from Denmark Township residents and a second petition with 15 signatures from Gilford Township citizens asking the board to move forward with a voluntary assessment.
The board acted last month to abandon the previous water district.
After a lengthy discussion, the Denmark Township Board passed a motion to move forward with the new assessment and also voted to retain the services of John McQuillan of Bay City as its legal representation on this project.
The board along with McQuillan and John Billette of Civil Engineering Consultants will host an informational meeting regarding the 2015 Volunteer Assessment Water District beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 at the Gilford Township Hall, 6232 W. Gilford Rd., Gilford. The meeting was previously scheduled for a later date, but McQuillan would be unable to attend so it was moved to March 4, explained Supervisor Chuck Heinlein.
Among other action, the board approved minutes from its Feb. 2 public hearing where the board approved a fire protection special assessment district and agreed to levy .625 mills on that district.
The board also approved the appointment of Dennis Reinbold to the Denmark/Tuscola Townships Fire Board. Reinbold will serve a three year term from Jan. 2015 through Dec. 31, 2017.
The next regular meeting of the Denmark Township Board of Trustees will be held at 6 p.m. March 30 at the Denmark Township Hall.
