CARO — Information has been released about Tuesday’s accident south of Caro that killed a Mayville woman has been released by the Michigan State Police – Caro Post.
Troopers responded to the report of a multi-vehicle accident about 3:03 p.m., on M-24 near Bevens Road in Indianfields Township.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Pathfinder, while southbound on M-24 struck a northbound Dodge Dakota. The southbound vehicle then struck a third vehicle before coming to rest in the roadway,” explained the MSP press release. “The deceased driver is identified as Tammy Lynn Shonk of Mayville, 32.”
The second vehicle that was struck was occupied by three people, who were not injured and declined medical services.
“The lone driver of the third vehicle was transported to Caro Community Hospital by MMR for non-life threatening injuries,” said the release.
The highway was closed for a few hours while a Michigan State Police traffic-crash investigator and crash reconstructionist conducted a scene investigation. The accident remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department, MMR Ambulance, and the Tuscola County Road Commission.
