NORRIS LEE HOLDBURG

Norris L. Holdburg, 78, of Cass City died following surgical complications Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Saginaw Geriatrics Home, Saginaw. He was born April 2, 1936 in Caro the first of 4 children born to Howard and Leona (Honold) Holdburg. He married Shirleen Marie Warford April 22, 1960 in Caro. She died August 21, 2001. He later married Cheryl Le Jacobs Galinski June 21, 2008 in Cass City. She died January 10, 2010. Norris graduated from Caro High School. Shortly after graduation, he began a job with Erla’s Grocery Store. He worked as a meat cutter with Erla’s for over 44 years until his retirement. He occasionally drove a truck for Erla’s to Detroit to pick up meat. His children often fought over who would ride along with him. Norris was an avid deer hunter, or as the kids would say “deer sleeper” because he often fell asleep in the woods as the kids watched for deer. Norris processed deer and taught many others on the proper techniques needed to process deer. Many years ago Norris raced cars at Thunder Road Racetrack in Cass City. He enjoyed camping on his property in Harrison and he enjoyed four wheeling. Norris also enjoyed fishing and tending his vegetable garden. He is a former member of Farver Road Baptist Church. Norris is survived by his children: Linda (Mike) Herner of Saginaw, Brenda (Robert) Cook of Saginaw, William Holdburg of Cass City, Norris H. (Christine) Holdburg of Cass City, Pete (Kathy) Gamet of Gagetown; step-daughter, Jade Galinski of Cass City; grandchildren: Michael (Leslie) Valiquette, Nicole Valiquette, Amber Gamet, Joshua Gamet, Jacob Gamet, AJ Gamet, Destiny Holdburg, Rachel Rennie, Natalie Holdburg, LJ Holdburg; great-grandson, Christian; sister, Lorna (George) Gray of Vassar; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sisters: Joan Fader, Janet Taggett; and his parents. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor David Cooper of Deford Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Elmwood Township. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
