David R. Harp, 67, of Silverwood died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 4, 2015. He was born August 30, 1947 in Caro to Harold J. and Irene E. (Stout) Harp. He married Deborah Ann Thomas October 27, 1973 in Dayton Center Church. Dave was a wonderful father, remarkable grandfather, and a loving husband to Deb for more than 40 years. Dave graduated from Kingston High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era and then worked for General Motors for 30 years at plants in both Pontiac and Saginaw. Dave was a farmer at heart raising Belgian and Quarter Horses and cows. He was a lifelong horseman and breeder. Dave was a founding member of the Thumb Draft Horse Association. He was also a dairy farmer for many years, working both as a farmer and at GM full time. Dave was a great friend and was always willing to help those in the neighborhood, no matter what time of day or night. He was often found working on cars, farm equipment, and all things mechanical. Dave is survived by his wife, Deborah; children: Dawn (Kevin Richter) Harp of Kingston, Andrew (Janice) Harp of Clarkston, Heather (Dan Coward) Harp of Millington, Holly Harp of Silverwood; grandchildren: Jacob, Rachel, Sara, RayAnn, Brycen; brothers: John (Mary) Harp of Silverwood; Harold James Harp of Deford; several nieces and nephews; many close friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sara Gottler. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Dayton Center Church, Silverwood with Pastor Taylor McManigell and Rev. Keith Mead officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in East Dayton Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Harp: Paul Rye, Andrew Harp, Jacob Kienitz, Dawn Harp, Heather Harp, Holly Harp.
