CARO — A swaying pup trailer on the back of a semi-tractor trailer is being cited as the cause of an accident that closed M-81 Sunday.
At about 10:41 p.m., the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call of a personal injury accident on M-81 near Dixon Road.
“A semi-tractor had been traveling westbound on M81 and a passenger car was traveling eastbound. The rear pup/trailer of the semi-tractor started weaving side to side,” explained Tuscola County Undersheriff Glen Skrent about the accident’s preliminary report. “The trailer went across the centerline and into the eastbound lane which then struck the passenger car.”
The driver of the passenger car was trapped in his vehicle, and the Caro Fire Department’s used JAWS-of Life were used to extricate him.
“The driver of the passenger car was transported to Covenant Hospital and his injuries are unknown at this time,” said Skrent. “The accident is still under investigation.”
The sheriff’s department was assisted at the scene by MMR, Caro Police Dept and MSP.
