Lee E. Ensign of Caro, age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw, following a short illness. He was born September 17, 1923 in Marlette, the son of the late Leland and Alice (Dorrance) Ensign, and was a 1941 graduate of Kingston High School. Lee was united in marriage with the former Theda Smith on June 26, 1943, and she survives him. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1944 to 1946, earning the rank of Sgt. Tec4. Lee was employed as the parts manager at the Dave Hall auto dealership in Marlette, and owned the Marlette Laundromat. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, dancing and traveling. Lee is survived by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Theda; one sister, Marguerite Caswell, and her husband, James; one brother, Douglas Ensign and his wife, Marilyn; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ensign; special friend and former daughter-in-law, Grace Seidman and her husband, Bill; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Lee Robert Ensign and Thomas James Ensign; and two sisters, Eleanor Brooks and Dorothy Hudson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Keith Mead officiating. Burial will follow at Rich Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
