Died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 of cancer, at the age of 51, at home. He was born May 14, 1962 in Portsmouth, NH to Charles E. and Nancy (Thompson) Rand. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. Memorials may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute online at www.MyJimmyFundPage.org/give/ChuckRand. He worked for John Hancock Investments for over 20 years working in their Boston and Portsmouth offices. Chuck graduated from the University of NH in 1984, from Portsmouth High School in 1980, and was a member of the marching band. Chuck enjoyed visiting family in Michigan, especially looking forward to attending the annual Snyder Family Camp Outs. An honest, loyal and dedicated family man and friend, he took pleasure in attending and taking photos and videos of Noah’s sports and Hanna’s dancing. Chuck enjoyed his close friends, fishing with Matt, watching Patriots and Red Sox games with Glenn, and snowmobiling with Mark. He also enjoyed spending time at his camp in Denmark, ME with his wife and childhood friends Kurt and John. In recent years, time at camp was spent fishing, kayaking and in the woods (just like his dad) cutting firewood. He was married to Sandra (Snyder) Rand for more than 20 years on Oct. 9. Survivors include his wife Sandra; mother, Nancy (Thompson) Rand of Rye, NH and mother-in-law, Mina Snyder; his stepdaughter, Malisa Yakes (friend Chip) of Newburyport, MA; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jean, Joan, Mike, Bobbi Ann, Patti, Niki, Kathy, Penny, Richard, Chuck and many nieces and nephews, all from Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rand and father-in-law, Robert Snyder.
