Mr. Rogner, age 89 years, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth. He was born in Reese, on August 26, 1924 to the late Henry and Renata (Holzhei) Rogner. Ernie was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Vassar. He retired from General Motors in 1977 after 30 years of service and maintained the family farm for several years. He married the former Suzanne Service and she preceded him in death in 1998. Survivors include his daughters: Christine (Dale) Barber and Lori (Mike) Walker; four grandsons: Chad (Kathy) Audinet, Philip (Michelle) Perez, Brian Perez and Joshua (Ashley DeSander) Perez; his great-grandchildren: Shawn, Kellie, Cheyenne, Brayden, Rachel, Alivia and Jackson, as well as a sister-in-law, Connie (Al) Trimble and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Rogner and his sisters: Helen Jones and Elnor Aldrich. Funeral service will be on Monday, September 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, in Vassar. The Rev. Cathy Christman will officiate with burial and military honors following in Riverside Cemetery, Vassar. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church in Vassar, the Vassar Food Pantry or the Alzheimer’s Association.
