Mrs. Lydia (Dewald) Voss, 87 of Akron passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at Tendercare of Cass City, Lydia was born on November 20, 1927 in Wisner Township, daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Stenzel) Dewald. She married Walter Voss and he preceded her in death in 1997. Lydia and Walter farmed in the Tuscola area. She was a homemaker and mother to Walter’s children. Lydia was a parishioner of the New Salem Lutheran Church of Sebewaing. She worked with the Lady’s Aid Society at their various events for many years. Lydia is survived by many nieces and nephews, step children Carl and Margaret Voss, Ruth Rauch, Paul and Diane Voss, Elizabeth and Ken Wells, John and Dianne Voss, David and Andrea Voss, Rhoda and Robert Holbrook. Lydia was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma “Mill” Wisenbach and Elizabeth Campbell; nine brothers, Fred “Fritz”, Henry “Hank”, Jacob “Jake”, Philip “Bill”, David, John, Alex, George and William Dewald. The funeral service for Lydia will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 8 at the New Salem Lutheran Church on 222 E. Grove Street in Sebewaing. Rev. William Mayhew will officiate. Burial will be at a later date this spring. Visitation will be at the Unionville Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 2:00-6:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the New Salem Lutheran Church. Memorials have been requested to the New Salem Lutheran Church.
