Ruth Dorothy Dietz, age 90 of Mayville, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro with her family by her side. Ruth was born March 17, 1925 in Fostoria, the daughter of Gustav and Bessie (Blackmore) Haas. She graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1943 and married Clayton Dietz May 5, 1944 at the family farm in Mayville. Ruth was a member of Pleasant View Free Methodist Church. She retired from Mayville Public Schools where she was employed as a cook. Ruth loved sharing good times with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, gardening, feeding the birds, watching figure skating and Tiger baseball. Ruth is survived by four children: Karyl Lyn Dietz of Mayville, Lois McGinley of Romeo, Louise (Gary) Dietz-Barber of Cass City, Gustav Dietz of Mayville; foster son, Lloyd Asmus of Caro; sister-in-law, Viola (Don) Petipri;, four grandchildren: Stephen (Amy) and Matthew (Timothea) McGinley, Meridith and Benjamin Latimer; special friends, Alice Servantes and Daniel Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; parents, Gustav and Bessie Haas; one brother, Earl Haas; and one sister, Ann Rosevear. Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Pleasant View Free Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Armstrong officiating. The family will receive visitors 2 – 8 P.M. Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, and 12 P.M. until time of the service Saturday at the church. Internment will be at North Grove Cemetery.
