Doris M. Sheridan of Caro, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home, following a lingering illness. She was born December 7, 1936 in Mooers Forks, New York, the daughter of the late Leo and Cecile (Bosley) Lafountain. Following graduation from high school, Doris went to work for Capital Airlines in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During that time in Pittsburgh, Doris met and was united in marriage with Timothy M. Sheridan on August 29, 1959, both returning to Tim’s home town near Caro in 1960. When the children were in school, Doris started working for the Caro Community Schools in food service, for twenty years, retiring as head cook at Schall Elementary School in Caro. Doris was a member of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Campus in Caro. She enjoyed playing Bingo, going to casinos and ‘Girls’ Night Out’ with her two best friends.
Doris is survived by her husband of over fifty-five years, Tim M. Sheridan of Caro; four children and their spouses, Timothy L. Sheridan of Reese, Michelle & Larry Whittaker of Cass City, Danielle & Brian Lavery of Deford, and Philip A. Sheridan of Millington; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth & Tim Gross of Mussey, Tara & Ryan Glenn of Parrish, Florida, Leah Whittaker and her fiancé, Kyle Fraser, of Saginaw, Maggie Lavery at Oakland University, Molly Lavery of Deford, Samantha Sheridan at Central Michigan University, Stephanie Sheridan at Saginaw Valley State University, Sara, Shannon and T.J. Sheridan, all of Reese; two great- grandchildren, Laila Gross and Brock Gross of Mussey; one sister and her husband, Shirley & Gilbert Rabideau of Mooers Forks, New York; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Donald Hurst of Farmington; many nieces and nephews in New York and Michigan; and two best friends, Jean LeValley of Caro and Bev Kitchen of Mio.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Campus in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Doris Sheridan Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Timothy Sheridan, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, Michigan 48723.
