Elizabeth A. Phillips, 85, of Kingston, died following a long illness Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Marlette Regional Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was born November 9, 1929 in Hazel Park the third of five children born to Lachlan and Agnes McDonald. She married Robert Charles Phillips June 22, 1955 in Kingston United Methodist Church. He died July 8, 2014.
Liz worked for White Owl Trucking in Pontiac, the State Highway department in Saginaw and Reimann’s Dairy Bar in Kingston before she and Bob were married. She later worked for Bob Peter’s insurance office. Liz was a past member of the Kingston AMVETS Post #1072. She was active with the Village of Kingston collecting water bills and serving on the election board. Liz enjoyed birdwatching, camping, traveling and was a talented oil painter. She was an avid Detroit Tiger baseball fan.
Liz is survived by her children: Rob Phillips (Wanda Allen) of Kingston, Blaine (Lynn) Phillips of Kingston; former daughter-in-law Kim Phillips of Kingston; grandchildren: Dan, Ryan, Kristi and David; sister, Elsie Arnott of Millington; brother, Lachlan (Erica) McDonald of Caro; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters: Mora McDonald and Helen McDonald; brother-in-law, George Arnott and parents, Agnes and Lachlan McDonald.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Phillips: David Phillips, JR Burkett, Ryan Phillips, Dan Phillips. Memorials may be made to Marlette Regional Hospital Extended Care Unit or United Hospice of Marlette.
