Vera Rose (Werden) Hunt, Holland

Vera Rose (Werden) Hunt, 91, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2015 in Holland, Michigan, under the care of American House, Hospice of Holland, and her family. She was born in Flint, Michigan to Ernest and Florence (Beird) Werden. After graduation from Flint Northern High School, she attended Ferris State College, and then worked as a bookkeeper for General Motors in the AC Spark Plug division. In 1947, she married Arthur Hunt of Mayville, MI. Vera was an active and devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was a Girl Scout leader, attended the Mayville United Methodist Church, and joined the Red Hat Society. In 2006, Vera moved to Oak Crest, now American House, retirement community in Holland, MI. Vera is preceded in death by her husband Arthur, who died in 1988; her parents, Ernest and Florence; her step-mother, Luella Werden; her sister, Norene Buchner; and her brother, Donald Werden. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Kowal; her children, Judy (Hunt) Szidik of Holland; Jeanne Hunt of Seattle, WA; Rob (Bob) Hunt of Incline Village, NV; and Bill Hunt of Fairfield, CT and their spouses; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Vera’s life was celebrated at her 90th birthday and no further memorial service is planned. She will be buried in West Dayton Cemetery in Mayville, MI with her family present.
