MARTHA ESTHER REMSING Cass City

Martha E. Remsing, 95, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City following a short illness. She was born February 22, 1918 in Caseville to Thomas and Magdalena (Schnieder) Forstner. She married George Remsing June 18, 1936 in Sandusky. He died October 17, 1967. Martha worked for the Firestone Seatbelt factory in Bad Axe for eight years.  Her most loved job was being a wife and mother to her many children. She attended Potter’s House Church for many years serving as Sunday school teacher for children of many ages. She was a member of WCTU for many years serving eight years as the club president. Martha enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery and she loved to read. Martha is survived by her children:  George Remsing of Cass City, Helen Keyser of Cass City, Frank (Dianne) Remsing of Caseville, Lena (Rev. Arlon) Lee of Benson, MN, Joseph (Lois) Remsing of Casa Grande, AZ, Mary (Rev. Albert ‘Doc’) Smith of Tulsa, OK; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her son-in-law, Charles Cooley of Allegan and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Remsing of Sebewaing.  Martha was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Cooley; sons: James, John and Thomas (Lorraine) Remsing; daughter-in-law, Cora Remsing; son-in-law, Daniel Keyser; grandson, Dean Keyser; great-grandson, Matthew Keyser.  All of Martha’s siblings have preceded her in death: Elizabeth Kipfer, Henry Forstner, Eva Cowper, Lena Caryl, Margaret Yeitter, Jack Forstner, Hanna Schultz, Mike Forstner, Tom Forstner, Norm Forstner, Paul Forstner, Alfred Forstner, Elfreida Berry and infant sister, Hermoine Forstner. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Robert Tucker of Potter’s House Christian Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Remsing are her grandsons and great-grandsons.  Memorials may be made to Tendercare Activities Fund.  Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
