Wilma D. Long, age 87 of Palisade, MN, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Aitkin Health Services. She was born March 30, 1928 in Flint to Lewis and Hilda (Howard) Higley. Wilma was united in marriage to John I. Long on April 10, 1948 in Flint. She lived in Millington and worked on a farm, then at Vans Photo Service in Flint and at Lapeer State Home as a housekeeper until 1977. Wilma and John moved to Palisade where she worked on a dairy and beef farm until 1991. They vacationed in Quartzsite, AZ during the winter months. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and deer hunting. She was preceded in death by her husband, John I. Long on March 9, 1991; brother, Norman; sister, Joyce; and her parents. She is survived by three sons: Jack (Evelyn) Long of Mayville; Gilbert Long of Millington; and Jerry (Val) Long of Vassar; one daughter, Dorothy Long of Palisade, MN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet (Terry) Wright of Flint. Visitation was one hour prior to the 2 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 funeral service at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. Reverend Erika Foss officiated.
