Hilton Howard Sarles, 95, of Luzerne, formerly of Clifford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Stonegate Village in Sandusky. He was born March 12, 1920 to Ross and Gretta (Murray) Sarles. He married Mavis Smock July 25, 1942. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2002. Hilton farmed all of his life until deciding to go into law enforcement in 1962. He was a Tuscola County Patrolman from 1962 to 1969. He then became Mayville Chief of Police from 1969 to 1982. Hilton loved his job, especially reaching out to kids and trying to make a difference in their lives. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many years of hunting trips up north with his brothers, his sons and nephews. He and his wife traveled west every winter and enjoyed many fishing trips in Canada. He is survived by son Howard (Doris) Sarles of Silverwood, and a daughter Linda (Marshall) Willer of Brown City, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and also brothers Neil (Alma) Sarles of Silverwood and Larry (Maybelle) Sarles of Gladwin. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter Carol, brothers Dean, Russell, Arnold and sisters Wilma and Leta. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service are Friday, August 21st. at 11:00 am, with visitation at 10:00am at Brown City United Methodist Church, 7043 Lincoln Street, Brown City.
