Raymond Francis Wood of Bay City, formerly of Fairgrove, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing at the age of 63. Ray was born August 9, 1952 in Cass City, the son of the late Clifford Jarvis and Shirley Mae (Proulx) Wood. He attended Akron-Fairgrove High School with the Class of 1972 and proudly received his G.E.D. years later as an adult. Ray worked in construction for many years before becoming a truck driver for several companies. His greatest passions in life were big trucks and fast cars. Even after his health prohibited him from racing cars, he continued to repair them. Ray was an avid sportsman in his younger years and continued to follow sports throughout his life. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling to North Fort Myers, Florida in the winter months. Ray was a member of the All Saints Parish, Saint James Church in Bay City, Knights of Columbus and the Caro Moose Lodge. His spirited and deeply kind personality will be missed by countless family and friends. Left to cherish Ray’s memory are two daughters, Shannon Borodychuk of Caro and Dee Dee Wood-Borodychuk of Wasilla, Alaska; three grandchildren, Landon and Leyton Borodychuk-Cherniawski, Madison Haddeland; five siblings and their spouses, Renee Wood, Robert and Diane Wood, Ricky and Brenda Wood, all of Caro, Rodney Wood of Grand Rapids, Roger and Lisa Wood of Holt; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and one great-great-nephew. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Frances Wood and special niece, Taylor Wood. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church site in Caro with Revs. Jerzy Dobosz and Kusi Cobona officiating. Burial will follow later at Brookside Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service and also invites friends to gather for a Rosary Service at the church at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Wood Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Renee Wood, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723. The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro. Friends may share memories, thoughts and prayers online at www.RansfordCollon.com.
