Our mom, (Geri to all who knew her), retired teacher, member of Mensa and an amazing mother and grandmother, passed away on June 20, 2015 in Ormond Beach, Florida with her daughter Marilyn by her side. It was her 95th birthday. She has joined her father, Clinton Morris Bolton, her mother, Lucille Doris Parsons and her brother, Richard Bolton. Mom was born in Caro and graduated from Caro High School in 1938. She attended County Normal and Central Michigan University, and taught at several country schools around the area. She married our father, Edward Romain on May 8, 1943 and they had us kids, Robert (Jean) Romain of Metamora, Marilyn Romain of Ormond Beach, Florida, Susan Romain of Waterford, Sally (Gary) Thomas of Gladwin, and Brian (Debbie) Romain of Ormond Beach, Florida. They were blessed with 11 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. On April 5, 1968, she and Roy Courliss were married making her stepmother to Donald (Carol) Courliss, Susan (Dennis) Green, William (Sharon) Courliss, Richard (Doy) Courliss and Reginald (Susan) Courliss. Sadly Roy preceded her in death on January 21, 2000. Mom married Walter Dombrowski December 23, 2002 and he, too, preceded her in death. When mom was asked a while back, of all the places you traveled and the many places you lived, where were you happiest? Without hesitation she said that she was happiest on the farm in Caro, gardening, canning and raising us kids. She sewed dresses for us girls and knitted sweaters, mittens and scarves for all of us; she even knitted blankets for our pets. She would let us use her bed sheets to make tents over the clothes line and taught us to be strong, independent and adventurous. Mom loved to watch Tiger baseball, loved to tell jokes, loved a good book, loved to play card games, loved Christmas and most of all, she loved us. We welcome you to join us for a graveside memorial service for the interment of her ashes on Saturday, September 26, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Indianfields Cemetery in Caro followed by a luncheon at the Caro United Methodist Church.
