CARO — Caro’s own puppet master has returned to the area to present the holiday production, “The Adventures of Santa Claus.”
On December 21 at 7 p.m., Troy Mullin with the Troy Mullin Company will be presenting fun for the whole family at Sue’s School of Dance in Caro. The play has been written, directed and designed by Mullin, who is on break from college at Central Michigan University.
Residents in the area were first introduced to Mullin’s creations and productions in 2008 when he performed and produced shows with a small group of tallented kids from the Thumb area.
Since then, Mullin has produced multiple productions for area residents.
The holiday play to be presented this year was written to tell the life story of the world’s most beloved gift giver. Beginning with his first days in the world, this winter fantasy unfolds to tell a tale of giving, the magic of believing and just how Santa came to be.
Throughout Santa’s exciting escapades, Christmas creatures of the North Pole come out to join in the fun and even interact with everyone. While wandering this winter wonderland, the Sugar Plumb Fairy, Jack Frost, the Snow Queen, the Elf’s of Santa’s Workship, the Flying Reindeer and many more winter wonder bringers help tell the special story of Old Saint Nick, like it has never been told before.
“Believe in the magic, feel the enchantment, witness the wonder of the Adventures of Santa Claus,” Mullin said. “It’s based on Christmas traditions and answers the many questions of Santa Claus like ‘Why does Santa have a white beard?’”
Mullin, along with the help of James Campbell, will be using puppets designed by Mullin for the show. This year, instead of a life sized set, the pair will be trying something new for the the play.
“This year, it’s all miniature,” Mullin said. “There’s more elfs, more trees.
“It all had to be scaled down because it’s in miniature. It took a lot of time, but it’s worth it.”
Mullin said the pair has been working on the production since last Christmas.
Tickets are $5 and are available at the door or at the Troy Mullin Company website at www.troymullincompany.com.
