Joshua Andrew Hoppe, age 30, wonderful husband, son, brother, teacher and coach, died suddenly on December 4, 2013, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Josh was born on June 20, 1983, in Bad Axe, MI. He grew up in Akron, MI, and attended Unionville-Sebewaing Area schools where he graduated in 2002. Josh attended Grand Valley State University, graduating in 2007 with a B.S. in Education and was currently working towards a Masters of Education in Leadership. Josh met his wife, Mari, in 2003 while attending GVSU, and they were married on July 24, 2009. Josh taught government and AP government at Hamilton High School and was the Hamilton Close Up Coordinator. Josh was actively involved in the athletic program for Hamilton Community Schools. He coached junior varsity football, freshman baseball, and had previously coached middle school girls’ basketball. Josh is survived by his wife Mari; his parents Ralph and Ann Hoppe; his brother Ben; his sister Allison; his grandparents Elmo and Doris Treiber, Carl and Marilyn Hoppe, and Gerda and Marvin Phillips; mother-in-law Mary Melville; brother-in-law Rob Melville; and sister-in-law, Trina (Tom) Connelly; and many very special aunts, uncles and cousins. Josh’s life revolved around his wife, family, his role as a teacher and coach, and his strong Christian values. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him as he was a great leader, teacher, and role model for many. Go Hawks! Go Lions! Visitation will be held at the Christ Memorial Chapel located at 595 Graafschap Rd. in Holland, MI on Monday, December 9th from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM. The memorial service will take place on Tuesday, December 10th at 1:30 PM at Christ Memorial Church at the above address. In honor of Josh memorials may be made to the New Hope Lutheran Church, Hamilton High School Close Up program , and the Susan G Koman foundation.
