Glen A. Barry, age 87, of Fostoria passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI.
Memorial Service for Glen will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 12 PM at the Fostoria United Methodist Church with Pastor Kay Leitelt officiating. The family will be present for visitation on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 4 PM- 8 PM at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI with an Eagle’s Service being conducted at 6 PM and a Masonic Memorial Service being held at 6:30 PM.The family will also be present for visitation on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 11 AM until the time of the service at the church. Glen will be laid to rest next to his grandmother in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbiaville, MI on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10 AM with Military Honors being conducted by the Mayville VFW Post # 108842 and the Mayville American Legion Post #181. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children. Glen was born April 1, 1926 in Fostoria, MI, the son of the late Glen and Margaret (Forrest) Barry. Glen graduated from Columbiaville High School in 1943. Glen proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War in the United States Air Force as a SSG. Glen retired as Captain of the City of Flint Fire Department after 26 years of dedicated service. Glen was active in many organizations, including: the Masonic Lodge # 223 of Flushing, the Lapeer American Legion Post #16 and the Mayville Eagles. Glen was a life member of the NRA and was a member of the Shriners of Saginaw. Glen enjoyed playing poker and blackjack, gambling, golfing, and especially hunting and fishing. Glen is survived by: 2 sons, Carl Barry of Savannah, GA and Alan (Sue) Barry of Muskegon, MI; one daughter, Terry (Mark) Funch of Fenton, MI; one sister, Lucille (Curtis) Newcomb of Drummond Island, MI; sister-in-law, Madoline Barry;10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
