Utility rate increased

CLIFFORD — The rate Clifford Village residents will have to pay for sewer is going to increase.

Because the fund balance in that account is extremely low, the auditors recommended the sewer rate be

increased 15 percent for residential and commercial, and that a new category of industrial sewer usage be created and to set that rate at the previous commercial rate plus percent.

According to the unapproved minutes: the residential rate will be $42.14 per quarter, the commercial rate will be $54.34 per quarter, and the industrial rate will be $61.45 per quarter.

Also because of tight finances, they pay rate for employees and council members will remain the same, and the yearly lease for firehall for Burlington Township was increased to $5,000 from $4,500. In addition, winter is also taking a toll on finances. Due to the inclement weather this year the DPW has used a large amount of salt and may be in need of more before the end of the season. Purchasing up to 80 tons of road salt was approved.
