CARO — Only minor injuries were reported in a school bus accident.
At about 11:20 a.m., Thursday, Tuscola County Central Dispatch received a call about an accident on M-81 and Walk Road west of Caro.
Tuscola County Sheriff Deputy Jordan Alexander and Sgt. Ted Hull responded the to call.
According to the preliminary police report, a Reese Public School bus driven by Mary Millerov, 64, from Reese was traveling westbound on M-81, and a pickup truck driven by Christine Bassett, 27, from Bay City, was also westbound when the accident happened.
When the vehicle driven by Bassett slowed to turn north into a private drive, the school bus driver could not stop and struck the pickup in the back.
“The bus was full of students but no injuries were reported,” said Undersheriff Glen Skrent. “A 42-year old passenger in the pickup truck received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by MMR.”
A Tuscola County ISD school bus collided with a small car at the corner of M-81 and M-24 in Caro shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Students who were on their way to Highland Pines School were transferred to another bus and taken to the school. The students were examined by a school nurse as a precautionary measure, but no one was injured in the incident.
