CANADA — While traveling 3,500 miles throughout Canada on the MichCanSka 2014 adventure, participants saw some breath-taking scenery, wild animals, and even some familiar sights.

George and Betty Pattullo of Caro, and their son, Peter of Texas, are among the group snowmobiling across frozen tundra to Gaspe Peninsula, which is along the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada, to raise money for American Diabetes Association.

The Tuscola County Advertiser has been following the adventure since it started Feb. 14, and others can also by logging on to http://www.michcanska.com.

The website has a daily update of progress made, sites seen, and some breathtaking photos of wilderness, unique towns, and more.

“The entire day we rode in the mountains with windmills on every mountain. It must have been a major task to get the equipment up to the top of the mountains,” said one post about the wind turbines that look like the ones in northwest Tuscola County.

Another post and photograph explains how the group spent the day riding across farm fields and how a quaint stream in its natural beauty they found unexpectedly along the way.

“Woke up to very cold temps, but not as windy as it was yesterday. We traveled south and west today leaving the Gaspe Peninsula behind us with lots of memories,” said the March 1 posting. “No one will forget yesterday and riding the cliffs.

“We’ve traveled a total of 2,073 miles and have eight more days of riding in Quebec.

Besides the wonderful nature pictures, the site also photographs of members of the group, towns, and several old churches with steeples that can be seen from miles away.

The adventure ends March 9.
