Delmar G. Putman of Caro, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. He was born July 17, 1932 in Mayville, the son of the late Hobart J. and Onalee (Brown) Putman. Del joined the U.S. Army in July of 1949 and served during the Korean conflict. Del was united in marriage with June Green on December 30, 1950 at the Vassar Baptist Church. He was employed as a mason contractor, working for Spence Brothers Construction in Saginaw for many years. Del enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling to Hawaii. He attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Caro. Del is survived by his wife of 62 years, June G. Putman of Caro; one son, two daughters and their spouses, Steve & Lois Putman of Caro, Cheryl & Dale Mollerd of Houghton Lake, Melissa & Larry Avery of Caro; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; four brothers & their wives, Hobart & Connie Putman of Mayville, Gary & Lorna Putman of Shields, Lionel Daly of Skidway Lake, Dale & Ruth Putman of North Carolina; one sister, Kathy Putman of Chicago and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Maryellen Putman; one sister, Sue Harmon; and two brothers, Donald and Rick Putman. Funeral services took place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28, at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Mike Wester officiating. In honor of Del’s wishes, cremation followed the service.
