William J. Touchette of Caro, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, following a period of declining health. Bill was born July 3, 1928 in Imlay City, the son of the late Robert and Goldie (Carpenter) Touchette. He was united in marriage with the former Virginia Simons on February 11, 1950 in Imlay City, and she survives him. Bill was employed as a journeyman meat cutter with A&P for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir, and was a 4th degree member of the Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224. Bill enjoyed golfing, reading, woodworking, gardening and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Virginia Touchette of Caro; his children, Deborah Touchette of Caro, Bob & Becky Touchette of Naples, Florida, Gary & Jane Touchette of Florence, Alabama, Bernie & Theresa Touchette of Clinton Township; six grandchildren, Derek Touchette, Megan Noe, Nathan Touchette, Christopher Touchette, Stephanie Wheeler, Amy Touchette; six great-grandchildren, Rylie, Mackynze, Brayden, Kasyn, Gavin and Addison; sister-in-law, June Touchette of Fort Myers, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Touchette in 2013; two brothers and one sister, Richard and Donald Touchette, and Lois Burtch. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
