Eric F. Huenemoerder of Caro, age 97, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw, following a period of declining health. He was born May 19, 1917 in Buffalo, New York, the son of the late John and Louise (Herrmann) Huenemoerder. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 during WWII and was stationed in Texas. Eric was united in marriage with the former Emma Alma Hospal on March 19, 1949 in Saginaw. She preceded him in death in February of 2004. Eric worked as a farm hand for many years, a mechanic for International Harvestor in Unionville, a typesetter at The Tuscola County Advertiser, and finally as a toll tester for Michigan Bell from 1967-1982. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Columbia Corners and the Unionville American Legion. Farming was in Eric’s blood and as a result, he enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He will be fondly remembered as a family man and friend to all he knew. Eric is survived by one daughter, Dianne Huenemoerder and her best friend, Tom Gunsell, of Caro; one son, Timothy Eric Huenemoerder and his wife, Joyce, of Saginaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and infant, Paul. In keeping with Eric’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Columbia Corners on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paulette Cummings officiating.
