Mrs. Esther (Kitelinger) Brummett of Millington, age 97, passed away late Friday afternoon June 20, 2014 at her residence in Millington, Esther was the daughter of the late Earl & Ena (Rice) Kitelinger and was born in Millington on May 21, 1917. Esther has been a lifelong Millington resident. She graduated from Millington High School and after high school, she went on to college to earn her RN bachelor’s degree in nursing. She eventually became the office nurse for Dr. Elmendorf, MD of Vassar. On December 25, 1941, Esther married William Edwin Brummett. Together she and Ed celebrated 66 years of marriage before his passing in February of 2008. Esther has been a long time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Vassar. Esther leaves her son and daughter in-law; Kelvin & Janice Brummett, four grandchildren, Andrew & wife Kayla Brummett, Jennifer Brummett, Carrie & husband Joel Merth, and Jeanna & husband Alex Mason, three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Besides her husband, Esther is also preceded in death by a son, Clayton Edwin Brummett in 1984. The Brummett family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and also an hour prior to services on Saturday. Funeral services will at the Hanlin Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Richard Bullock delivering the message and closing prayers. The burial will be private at the Millington Township Cemetery.
