Grace Ottilia Anna Winkoff of Caro, age 97, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Covenant Health Care – Harrison in Saginaw. The former Grace Schirmer was born May 15, 1917 in Casco Township, St. Clair County, the daughter of the late Roy and Irene (Granzow) Schirmer. Grace was raised on a farm and was a hard working woman. On February 23, 1935 she was united in marriage with the late Nickolas Winkoff in Casco Township. They lived in the Detroit area and upon Nickolas’ retirement, they moved to Murphy Lake and then to Caro. Grace loved her family and enjoyed her numerous friends. She was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, knitting and quilting. Grace was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Joy Group. Grace is survived by one daughter and her spouse, Doris Ann (Arthur) Bock of Armada; two granddaughters and their spouses, Kimberly Ann (John) Streeter of Almont, Karen Ann (Jeffrey) Thibault of Utica; five great-grandchildren, Andrew (Kera) Streeter of Shelby Township, Timothy Streeter, Raquel Thibault, Brandon Thibault and Sydney Thibault; and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Entombment will be in the Jean Starr Memorial Mausoleum at the Richmond City Cemetery in Richmond, Michigan. The family received friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
