WELLS TWP — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Caro Post were dispatched to Hurds Corner Road near Bevens Road at 7:17 p.m. Saturday for a one-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered that the driver of the vehicle, a 1976 Jeep Cherokee, was Mark Anthony DeVine, 48 of Silverwood. DeVine had been completely ejected from the vehicle and the passenger, Brian Enos, 45 of Caro, had been partially ejected from the vehicle. Witnesses and an MSP trooper performed CPR on the unresponsive driver DeVine. CPR was unsuccessful, and he was declared deceased by Mobile Medical Response personnel. The passenger Enos was conscious and breathing and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by MMR.
The police report states that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The Michigan State Police were assisted by the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department, Mayville Ambulance, MMR unit Alpha 88, the Caro Fire Deparment and a DNR officer.
