William Martin Ruhstorfer, Caro

William Martin Ruhstorfer, age 91- died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Timberline Lodge, AFC in Caro, Michigan.  Funeral services were held Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 4:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.  Entombment has taken place.  William “Just Plane Bill” was born April 25, 1923 in Flint, Michigan to Joseph and Bessie Ruhstorfer.  William served in the United States Army during WWII.  He worked for General Motors for 34 years and retired in 1984.  William was a private pilot prominent in Michigan’s General Aviation Community.  He was a life member of Michigan Aviation Association and was honored as Pilot of the Month twice and the 1980 Pilot of the Year.  He also developed the Aviation Resource section in the Sanilac District Library, Port Sanilac, which became a state-wide model for MAEF. He was a Christian, a loving family man, and known to all as a gentleman.  William is survived by his daughters, Cathy Johnson and Luanne (Jerry) Fisher; grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Rourke, Laura (Joshua) Huff, Heather (Joshua) Neuenschwander, Stacie (Robert) Coleman, Jeremy (DeeAnn) Fisher; great-grandchildren, Brian, Ian, Leah, Jacob, Alex, Brice, Chance, Julieanne, and Nolan; brother, Wesley (Nancy) Ruhstorfer; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel Lucille; brother, Edward Ruhstorfer; and sister, Lois Hardisty.  Contributions may be made to the Aviation Resource section of the Sanilac District Library in Port Sanilac.  Condolences may be shared with the family at www.brownfh.com.  Arrangements provided by Brown Funeral Home 1480 E.
