REESE — A new superintendent will be welcoming students as they return to school.
Keith Wetters was recently selected as the new Reese Public Schools superintendent and so far, he said he has enjoyed his new role.
“The school has been amazing,” Wetters said. “The staff and students are tremendous.”
Wetters comes from the Pinconning school district, where he acted as Pinconning Middle School principal. He said the switch from principal to superintendent comes with challenges, but aided with the helpful Reese staff and a great community, he said everything has been going smoothly.
“It has been a great transition.” he said.
He will be introducing himself to the students and community as school returns to session starting Sept. 3.
Wetters replaced Randy Middlin, who acted as interim superintendent since February 2012. Middlin returned to his superintendent roots after former superintendent Storm Lairson retired Jan. 31, 2012.
The new superintendent search began in December with the hiring of NorthStar Staffing to aid in the search. The group posted vacancy notices throughout the state and national organizations, gave exposure on the internet, solicited applications for the position and screened candidates, which was then presented to the school board based on the profile.
Wetters headed up the regular monthly Reese School board meeting Monday evening, where the board also approved the hiring of part time Reese Elementary School secretary Kara Agans and Reese High School social studies teacher Nick Seney.
