Roy W. Petzold, age 76, a lifelong Millington resident passed from our world into God’s Kingdom early Sunday morning October 19, 2014 at his residence. Roy was born in Arbela Township on April 2, 1938 and was the son of the late Oscar and Alma (Bauer) Petzold. Roy was a graduate of Millington High School class of 1956. He served our country in the US Army stand-by reserves. On August 6, 1960 Roy married Miss Shirley Reinert, and together he and Shirley have celebrated 54 years of marriage. Roy retired from the V-8 Plant of the General Motors Division after 30 years of employment. For 18 years Roy served his community by serving as a Tuscola County Commissioner. Previous to his serving the community at the county level, Roy also served as Millington Township. Supervisor, and at one time as the Millington Township Assessor. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Roy served the church on many of the church boards. He served as an Elder, ushered, is a past Congregational Chairman, was a Stephens Minister, a Gideon, and was a past member of the Millington Rotary. Roy leaves to cherish his memory, wife Shirley; four children, Phil and wife Vicki Petzold, Julie and husband Mark Miller, Mary and husband Tim Arrick, and Cheryl and husband Chad Burtrum; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, Emily, David, Rachel, Daniel, Rebekah, Hanah, Hope, Caitlin, Benjamin, Claire, Zane; and one great-grandson, Caleb. He leaves also a brother Willard amd wife Carolyn Petzold; two sisters, Irene Smith, and Elaine and husband Jim Bickel, as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family. Besides his parents Roy is preceded in death by three brothers, Alton, Wallace, Roland, and an infant sister. The family received friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and also on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 11:30 am until the services begin. Funeral services for Roy will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington. The burial will follow at the Millington Township. Cemetery in Millington.
