Raymond W. Geraldo of Caro, age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones and following a courageous four year battle with illness. He was born February 15, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a child, he moved to Michigan and attended Deckerville Schools. He then joined the Marines, where he proudly served a tour in the Vietnam War. Eventually, he returned to Michigan and joined the Michigan Regional Carpenters and Joiners Local 0687 as a journeyman carpenter. Ray loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, spending time with his wife, and fixing things. His most recent project was restoring toy trucks for his grandsons. Ray is survived by his wife, Deborah (Esckelson) Geraldo of Caro; step-children, Cherie & Christopher Bohlinger, Matthew & Ericka Kubiak, Timothy Kubiak and Mark Kubiak; his pride and joy, his seven grandchildren, Clarissa Martin, Hannah and Jacob Bohlinger, Allison, Emma, Isaac and Samuel Kubiak; siblings, Kathy & Jim Young, Doug & Denise Geraldo, Tim Geraldo, and Bart Manns; aunts, Pat, Norm and Janet; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Jones; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leon & Helen Esckelson. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Quinn Jones, Shirley & Mike Raines, Heartland Hospice, Dr. Mahfooz and staff, and the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital. A private memorial service and burial will be held at a later date.
