Emma R. HORWATH (Urbanski)

Emma Rita Horwath, age 97 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community.  She was born on November 10, 1917 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Stella Urbanski.  On October 14, 1940 she married Anthony Horwath, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1989.  Emma was employed at Vassar Manufacturing and retired from Means Industries in 1980 after more than 30 years of service.  She was a longtime member of St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church.  Emma loved spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with her friends and neighbors.  She enjoyed garage sales and bird watching. Surviving are her children, Jim (Helen) Horwath, John Horwath, Babe (Gary) Churcott and Tom Horwath; grandchildren, Tom (Karen) Horwath, Dan (Stacey) Horwath, Andrew (Stephanie) Horwath, Steve (Molly) Horwath, Rae Ann (Mike) Hadd, Michael (Chong) Horwath, John (Laura) Horwath, Amy (Patrick) Dunham, Tony (Laura) Churcott, Brett Horwath, Tyler Horwath and Kallie Horwath; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John (Dorothy) Horwath and many nieces and nephews.  Emma was preceded in death by her grandson, Doug Horwath; great-grandson, Christopher James Horwath; and daughters-in-law, Kris Horwath and Geneva Horwath. Funeral liturgy will be at celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church.  Rite of Committal will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.  The family greeted friends on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar and at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.  A Prayer Service was held at 7:00 p.m.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Tuscola County Medical Care Community or to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
