Caro 56, Cass City 51:
Caro used a big third quarter to propel them to a rivalry win against M81 foes Cass City.
Tanner Tysick led the way for the Tigers with 17 points and eight rebounds, Brandon Tomlinson added 16 points and five rebounds, Bailey Krueger rounded out the top scorers with 15 points and 5 rebounds including going seven of eight from the free throw line in the fourth.
“We struggled in the first half,” Caro coach Dan Bills commented. “We went to the two three zone in the second half, and they pressed which didn’t effect us,” Bills added.
Cass City was led by Parker Haire with 15 points, Sawyer Cuthrell chipped in 13 points, and five rebounds and Mason Erla added 11 points and five rebounds.
Caro is back in action home against Unionville-Sebewaing Area on Monday, while Cass City plays host to Harbor Beach on Wedneday.

Reese 61, Ubly 56: Freshman Kyle Stockmeyer poured in 17 points in his varsity debut to lead the Rockets to a win on the road Wednesday night, while senior Jared Schrader added 15 points and senior Drew Brechtelsbauer added 11. While Reese made 15 of 24 free throws, Ubly connected on just six of 21 shots from the foul line. Jeff Wright led Ubly with 26 points, including five three-pointers. Kurt Kubacki added 18 points for the Bearcats. “It was a tough game,” said Reese coach Brian Kern. “We played great defense. We came out in the second half and played much better on defense. They rebounded, they ran and they played Reese basketball and they worked their tails off.”
Vassar 55, Marlette 53 (OT): The host Red Raiders led 40-33 after three quarters on Wednesday night but Vassar came back to tie the game and win in overtime. The Vulcans were led by Blake Ruppal with 18 points and Colton Fabbro with 15, while Tyler Humpert scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Connor Thomas scored 14 points to lead Marlette.
Carsonville-Port Sanilac 56, Owen-Gage 52: Balanced scoring from Carsonville-Port Sanilac propelled the visiting Tigers to a win Wednesday night. Aaron Smith scored 15 points for C.P.S., while Tony Nugent scored 14, Wyatt Hooper popped in 13 and Aaron Cooney added 12. Owen-Gage led 27-24 at halftime but C.P.S. outscored the hosts 17-10 in the third period to take control. David Binder led Owen-Gage with 23 points, with Jacob Wright collecting 21.
Bad Axe 40, Kingston 39: It was a tale of two halves Wednesday night as Kingston opened the season with a loss to the Hatchets. The Cardinals found themselves down 26-15 at halftime, before charging back in the second half. Led by Travis Tucker, who had 14 points and 6 assists, Kingston went on a 24-14 second half run, but couldnt quite complete the comeback. Aaron VanHorn added nine points for the Cardinals, and Clay Dailey chipped in six. Kingston (0-1) will open the conference schedule at home Monday against Deckerville (1-0).
Akron Fairgrove 47 Landmark Academy 35: The Vikings earned a hard fought non-conference victory over the Landmark Academy Friday night. Akron-Fairgrove was led by Jared Verhelle, who had a huge game, scoring 28 points. Adrien Vliet added 12 points for the Vikings, and Austin Carter scored five. Akron-Fairgrove (2-0) will play Burton Faith on Monday.
Yale 47, North Branch 44: The Broncos lost their second close game of the season falling to the rival Bulldogs. North Branch held a slim 29-24 lead at the half, and kept it close until Yale went on a 12-8 run to tie the game at 44. With only 1.5 seconds in the game Garrett Bondy hit the decisive and-one to give Yale the victory. Curt Garza had a nice game for the Broncos, scoring 20 points. Mike Stone added seven points for North Branch. The Broncos (0-2) will travel to Frankenmuth (1-0) on Wednesday.
Owen-Gage 54, Merritt Academy 52 OT: The Bulldogs earned a conference victory in exciting fashion Friday night defeating the rival Mustangs in overtime. Owen-Gage trailed 36-30 at the end of the third quarter, but outscored Merritt 16-10 in the fourth quarter to tie the game. Jacob Wright took over in overtime scoring seven of his teams eight points, to lead the Bulldogs to the win. Wright totaled 24 points, while David Binder scored a game-high 25 points, for Owen-Gage. The Bulldogs (1-2) return home to play North Huron (0-2) on Monday.
